Reflection
It is extremely important for students to communicate and collaborate with their peers and for teachers to be able to communicate with students and parents quickly. It is also important for all parties involved to be able to use technology that is available to them. For my artifacts I choose three items that I feel best shows how I have communicated and taught others how to use new technology.
I created this video on how to setup an Instagram account and how to post pictures and videos to Instagram for an assignment where I pretend to be a classroom teacher who uses Instagram to quickly communicate to students and parents. I feel that this video meets this standard because of the communication and collaborative elements that can grow from learning how to work the app.
The research I did which focused on collaboration in distance education opened my eyes to the importance of having collaborative assignments. Not just discussion boards but also assignments were the group must create something. Prior to this assignment I did not understand why instructors seem to enjoy collaborations but I now get it. Learners usually learn more from their peers and their experiences which is something they cannot get from a textbook. By researching this topic I have become more willing to collaborate with my classmates so that I can benefit from them and they from me.
In a collaborative paper my group and I explored several types of communication tools. Some tools were to help with classroom behavior and others were to keep parents and students informed. I could these tools helpful as they allowed for instant communication to parents about their student’s classroom behavior or even upcoming assignments. All the tools mentioned in the paper are excellent sources of communication as long as they are used properly.

Future Goals
My future goals for this standard is to learn how to use more collaborative technologies in my classroom. I would like something that I can setup up and use for all of my students as I do see every student in our school. Currently it is most convenient for me to contact parents via phone call.
